Open House raises over £6500

Formartine Fairtrade group member Anne Aspden has traditionally held an OPEN HOUSE event every November to sell Fairtrade and Traidcraft goods, to highlight trade justice and to help third world producers.

Over 4 days from Wednesday 7th to Sunday 11th November, people flocked to Bonnyton Farmhouse, Pitmedden to brows and buy wonderful crafts, clothing and get their Fairtrade foods and drink.  Many enjoying coffee and cake around the kitchen table, they bought their Christmas presents or ordered gifts to be delivered.

The huge success of the Open House days with growing sales every year, is testament to the generosity and social concern of local people in Formartine.

The success of the Fairtrade Shop in 2011 meant even more people were keen to buy again this year.

“The quality of goods is superb” said Anne. “They are good value for any buyer but more importantly are at a fair price for the maker in a developing country where their income is often low due to unfair international trade arrangements”

Volunteers from the Formartine Fairtrade Group helped over the days as well as from local churches.
